Socialism is the idea of Social Equality and welfare for the needy. Everyone is given the same support and opportunities, such as
free education
free health
free financial support (unemployed)
utilities: power and water and sewerage (infrastructure)
roads etc.
Australian society has a lot of socialist policy when we look at the support that the government offers its citizens.
Nationalism:
Nationalism is a belief that one nation is superior than another. Having pride in one nation and thinking that you have a right to rule over others. Thinking your better than everyone else.
It is also the belief that a people that share a common language, history and culture should institute an independent nation, free of foreign domination - this is apparent when we look at the Nazis and their argument against the Treaty of Versailles and the Allied reparations as the cause for Germany's social and economic problems in the 1920s and early 30s.
Social Darwinism:
Social Darwinism is a term commonly used for theories of society that emerged in England and the United States in the 1870s, seeking to apply the principles of Darwinian evolution to sociology and politics. It especially refers to notions of struggle for existence being used to justify social policies which make no distinction between those able to support themselves and those unable to support themselves. (Source: Williams, Raymond. 2000. Social Darwinism. in Herbert Spencer's Critical Assessment. John Offer. (ed). pp. 186 -199)
The argument that Nazi ideology was strongly influenced by social Darwinist ideas is often found in historical and social science literature. The Nazis used the idea that certain races are further evolved than others (taken from Darwin's Origin of the Species) in order to establish a social hierarchy based on racism - the belief that one race is better and stronger than another. They then used this to justify their acts of mass murder of Jews and other minority groups saying that their race - the Aryan Race - was stronger and therefore should exterminate the weaker races (Survival of the fittest) (Source: adapted fromE.g. Weingart, P., J. Kroll, and K. Bayertz, Rasse, Blut, und Gene. Geschichte der Eugenik und Rassenhygiene in Deutschland (Frankfurt: Suhrkamp, 1988).
Fascism/National-Socialism (Nazism):
National-Socialism is a blend of Fascism and Nationalism. Equality is not a factor in this ideology. There was no tolerance for weakness, and only certain people were accepted.
Aryan:
Blued eyed blond hair full german blood, ‘The pure race’.
The Germans under the nazi invented this race to say that blue eyed blond people are superior. Evolution Monkey---------Nergo---------Asian-----------Caucasian (brown hair ect)--------Aryan
This is Eugenics, which is the study of genetics or the belief that improvement to the qualities of human beings can be made through encouraging or discouraging the reproduction of certain peoples with certain genetic make-ups (positive and negative eugenics)
The failed attempt to overthrow the Weimar Republic on the 9 Nov. 1923. Hitler and the Nazi Party tried to seize power in Munich, Bavaria and instal a right wing government in place of the Weimar Republic
Hitler's jailing:
As a result of the failed Munich Putsch (Beer Hall Putsch) Hitler was jailed. He was originally sentenced for 5 years for treason, but was released after serving only one. His conditions were very lush in prison terms and was given access to a publisher (amongst other visitors) as he wrote his ideas on social policy called 'Mein Kampf'. Throughout his time in jail the Nazi party lost much support through moderate policy and campaigning. This changed after Hitler's release as he took a harder less compromising approach which ultimately led to the Nazi Party gaining majority in the Reichstag and Hitler becoming Chancellor.
Mein Kampf:
Mein Kampf, literally translated to "My Struggles", is an autobiography Adolf Hitler wrote in his 5 year sentence in Landsburg Castle, Munich. The book is a combination of elements from autobiography and his political ideals and beliefs. Mein Kampf was later edited by former Hieronymite Friar, Bernhard Stempfle, who died later in the "Night of the Long Knifes" campaign as a result.

Significant People:
Charles Darwin & the Origin of the Species:
(12 February 1809 – 19 April 1882) was an English naturalist He established that allspecies of life have descended over time from common ancestry, and proposed the scientific theory that this branching pattern of evolution resulted from a process that he called natural selection, or survival of the fittest - a theory based on the thought that for a species to survive it must be stronger than its competitors.
He published his theory with compelling evidence for evolution in his 1859 book On the Origin of Species, overcoming scientific rejection of earlier concepts of transmutation of species. By the 1870s the scientific community and much of the general public accepted evolution as a fact. However, many favoured competing explanations and it was not until the emergence of the modern evolutionary synthesis from the 1930s to the 1950s that a broad consensus developed that natural selection was the basic mechanism of evolution. In modified form, Darwin's scientific discovery is the unifying theory of the life sciences, explaining the diversity of life.
